RELAY FOR LIFE: A TEAM EVENT TO FIGHT CANCER
In 2003, Mrun took part American Cancer Society’s, “24 hour Relay for Life.” Besides raising $1450 to help fight the battle against Cancer, we showed our support to the American Cancer Society in the best way we know how, we ran!
In a 24-hour period, Mrunners ran the periphery of Palmer field 700 times, 175 miles, receiving the, “Most motivated team award!”
MRUN will be a proud participant again in 2008, “24 Hour Relay for Life.” If you’d like to be a part of our team please contact David Metler (dcmetler@umich.edu).
THE RACE ACROSS MICHIGAN
Official Race Across Michigan Webpage
The 2010 Race Across Michigan is a charity relay run led by the members of the University of Michigan Running Club. The run begins on April 11th in Detroit along the Detroit River and finishes 178 miles West on the coast of Lake Michigan. A group of 40 running club members will cover the distance as a relay race with each member running between 5 and 10 miles each. Our team goal is to cover the entire distance in under 24 hours while raising over $5,000 for Girls on the Run of Michigan, a program that encourages preteen girls to develop self respect and healthy lifestyles through running. Your contribution to the 2009 Race Across Michigan will give young girls a chance to run, promote physical fitness, and celebrate the state of Michigan. To help promote Girls on the Run, the race will be covered by media across the state.
Distance: 181 Miles
Charity: Girls on the Run of Michigan
Goal: Complete the race in under 24 hours
