The University of Michigan Running club will be racing 181 miles in a relay literally running the entire way across the state of Michigan in under 24 hours as part of the 2010 Race Across Michigan! Michigan will be racing from Detroit all the way west to Lake Michigan in a non-stop relay race against two other university running clubs from the state of Michigan, Central Michigan University and Michigan State University.
The 2010 Race Across Michigan is a charity relay run led by the members of the University of Michigan Running Club. The run begins on March 27th in Detroit along the Detroit River and finishes 181 miles West on the coast of Lake Michigan. A group of 40 running club members will cover the distance as a relay race with each member running between 10 and 25 miles. Last year MRun completed the run in 23 hours, 19 minutes, and 55 seconds, our goal is to break that record. MRun is running to raise money for Girls on the Run of Michigan, a program that encourages preteen girls to develop self respect and healthy lifestyles through running. Your contribution to the 2009 Race Across Michigan will give young girls a chance to run, promote physical fitness, and celebrate the state of Michigan. The race will be tracked online by GPS so friends and family can track our progress throughout the day.
